THE EXPERIENCE

Why Ride It

The Sella Ronda is one of the most concentrated motorcycle experiences in the Dolomites. In a single loop, the road links four legendary passes โ€” Campolongo, Pordoi, Sella and Gardena โ€” creating a 52.7 km circuit through some of the most dramatic mountains in the Alps.

The beauty of the Sella Ronda lies in its rhythm. You climb, descend, turn, and climb again, with every pass bringing a different perspective on the towering Dolomite walls. The road rarely gives you time to settle into one character before the landscape and the riding change again.

For riders, this is less about one spectacular climb and more about the combination of everything. Tight hairpins, flowing mountain sections, short straights and constant elevation changes make the entire loop feel like one continuous riding experience. The compact distance also means you can experience an extraordinary amount of mountain road without spending an entire day in the saddle.

Four passes. One legendary loop. The Sella Ronda is the kind of road that makes you want to turn around and ride it again.

BEFORE YOU RIDE

Good To Know

The Sella Ronda is extremely popular, particularly during summer and around the busiest holiday periods. Traffic can include motorcycles, cars, coaches and large numbers of cyclists, so an early start can make a significant difference. Weather can also change quickly in the Dolomites, especially at the higher passes. Check local road conditions and any seasonal traffic restrictions before setting out, as access and traffic rules can change during the year.

Route Notes

The Ride Beyond Sella Ronda begins in Corvara and follows the loop clockwise towards Passo Campolongo. From here, the road descends towards Arabba before climbing again towards Passo Pordoi, the highest point of the route at 2,239 m.

From Pordoi, the route continues towards Canazei before climbing through the Val di Fassa towards Passo Sella. The character of the landscape changes again here, with enormous rock formations rising directly above the road and the Sella massif dominating the horizon.

The final section leads towards Passo Gardena before descending back towards Corvara. By the time you complete the loop, you have crossed four major Dolomite passes and experienced a remarkable variety of corners, gradients and mountain scenery within a relatively short distance.

Ride it clockwise. Take the corners. Look up between them. The Sella Ronda is best experienced as a complete loop.
