THE EXPERIENCE

Why Ride It

Strada della Forra is one of Italy’s most extraordinary motorcycle roads. Carved directly into the cliffs above Lake Garda, the road threads its way through the narrow Brasa Gorge, where rock walls, tunnels and tight corners create an experience unlike almost any other road in the region.

The road is compact, but its character changes constantly. Sections disappear into the mountain before emerging again above the gorge, while tight bends force the rider to slow down and carefully read the road ahead. The limited width makes the surroundings feel even more imposing.

For riders, the appeal is not speed but precision. The combination of narrow lanes, rock walls, tunnels and constant changes in direction demands concentration, while the occasional opening in the gorge reveals Lake Garda far below. It is a short ride, but one that leaves a much bigger impression than its distance suggests.

Some roads are memorable because of where they take you. Strada della Forra is memorable because of where it takes you through.

Good To Know

Strada della Forra is narrow and can become busy, particularly during the main tourist season. Cars, motorcycles, cyclists and pedestrians can all be encountered on the route, while the limited width makes passing difficult in some sections. Visibility is also restricted through many of the tunnels and tighter bends, so a controlled pace is essential. Check current local restrictions before riding, as access and traffic rules can change.

Route Notes

The Ride Beyond route follows Strada della Forra as it leaves the Lake Garda shoreline and enters the Brasa Gorge. The road quickly becomes narrower as it begins winding between the rock walls, with the first tunnels and tight corners introducing the unique character of the route.

Deeper into the gorge, the road becomes increasingly dramatic. Short tunnels alternate with exposed sections carved directly into the cliffs, while the narrow roadway constantly changes direction. There is little opportunity to settle into a rhythm, making this a route where precision matters more than speed.

As the road climbs higher, the gorge gradually opens and views towards Lake Garda begin to appear between the mountain walls. The route eventually emerges from the most enclosed section, completing one of the most unusual short rides in the Dolomites and Lake Garda region.

Slow down. Read the road. Let the gorge close in around you.
